I usually use it around four times a week for things such as controlling pain, better concentration, making not-so-good food taste better, making myself feel warmer/cooler. Other good suggestions can be found online or you can come up with your own. Please note, this technique does not necessarily result in a light hypnotic state. If done skillfully, you can make your entire hand completely numb (I've done this a few times for fun, it works great).
